Hooked it up to my 60GB iPod 5G
Set video out to ON, NTSC, and Widescreen
Played a movie and it looks decent on the HDTV.
600MB movie file appears about VHS quality.
I also bought the $3 cable that goes in the bottom of the iPod and this $.49 works just as well.
Note - I have rockbox installed and this only works if you boot to normal iPod mode. Menu + Select for 5 seconds to reboot then hold switch to ON when apple logo appears.

Got this for our 30 GB iPod Video. I also considered the $49 cable from Apple which plugs into the iPod connector port. This works quite well. The price was right for something that's not compatible with the iPod Touch (as far as I know). Once, I had to jiggle the connection to the iPod to clear up some streaks on the video (seen on a TV). Otherwise, it's performed flawlessly.
Build seems to be of good quality. It's attractive.
For those that don't know, just go to video settings on your iPod video and set the iPod to ask about the TV-out settings when starting a video.
