I drive a Toyota Coralla and bought the Sony Travel Speaker for driving back and forth to work in order to listen to audiobooks. The speakers did not produce enough volume for to be able to listen easily. Now it sits in my trunk.

If you don't like using head sets this is great. Use at the Hot tub and everyone can listen. In a car great, or in your office at home, music you want to hear.

There is no volume control or any other functions, you just plug your device in and it plays. No on/off button, either. I'm all for the simpler the better, but I need to be able to adjust the speaker's volume, they are way too low out of the box. Also, fyi it comes in that impossible plastic packaging where you need a box cutter, fencing gloves and nerves of steel to free your item. Also, my speakers also keep flopping over, it won't stand up like in the picture for more than a few seconds, I have to prop it against something. I can't use them for the purpose I bought them, so I tried them with my daughter's portable CD player to get rid of some of the wires, because not having a power cord is a real 5 star feature - but they are still way too low even for bed time lullibies. I have the volume all the way up on the CD player and the other speakers I have been using have to be on one of their lowest settings. So maybe I just got a dud Sony compact travel speaker - but it's junk.

The internal speakers in my dvd player and my laptop produce louder sound than this. (Sound got indeed smaller when I plugged this guy in!) I just returned it.
