I ordered one of these new via another website. The Ipod dock and radio were fine, but the CD player wouldn't work. Also the display sometimes lags when you're scrolling through the various input source options. I called Philips and had a very pleasant customer service experience, but when I received the replacement today, there were major problems. Not only was the CD player defective in the exact same way, but the replacement was so poorly packed by the company that the unit had irreparable damage to the antenna input. I have been informed that my only options are replacement with an identical model or refund of purchase price. I got rid of a bunch of other stereo stuff, intending this to be a space-saving replacement, but the deal I got on it initially means that the refund won't actually cover the cost of getting something else, meaning I've lost everything.
The person in the replacements department told me they've had a lot of complaints about packaging of replacements. My advice is to avoid this bran altogether.

This thing is awful. Sounds terrible, both CDs and iPod. Shockingly so. At first I thought I had set it up wrong somehow, but no.
We did a side-by-side test with my kid's $20 CD box (which is 3 years old, by the way) and the boom box won, hands down. Music from this thing sounds canned, no dynamic range, no depth, like an AM radio almost. The optional bass boost only amplifies the suck.

I don't know any executives who would settle for a product so lousy. They should call it Micro Sound.
Don't waste your time or money on this junk.

I was very impressed with the sound of the device and the list of features, but unfortunately, one of those features does not work. When connecting a USB drive to the device, it would only play about 3 out of the first 15 I tried. Future tests with different files yielded the similar results. They were all regular MP3 files. I don't know if this is a common thing or if my unit is defective.
------------------------
Other things of note:
Even a properly functioning device will not play AAC files, which is something to consider if you have many songs in your library ripped or imported from iTunes.
New iPods, such as the 4th and 5th generation Nanos are not compatible since Apples changed the charging plug from Firewire/USB to just USB. They will play, but not charge.
------------------------
I feel bad for giving it one star since it blows the iHome out of the water, but if you have a feature advertise it better well work. If the MP3/USB function worked I'd give it a 3.5 or 4.

I bought this product because it was one of the only ipod docks that had a radio AND a cd player. Although I'm happy with all three functions this unit lacks one major function; the ability to control the ipod with the remote!
A few things I like:
-It remembers what the last thing you played on it is so if you played the ipod last that is what it will play when you power it on.
-The radio stations and clock are very easy to set and it holds up to 20 stations which in Los Angeles is crucial!
-It sounds GREAT! You wouldn't think such rich sound could come out of such a little box! There is also bass boost and the ability to adjust the EQ (4 presets) for improved sound.
A few things I don't like:
-You can't control the ipod with the remote, only the buttons on the dock. That sucks.
-There is no way to dim the LCD and it is a little bright for a bedroom at night.
-When you turn the unit off with an ipod docked it continues to charge it, even if it doesn't need to be charged.
Overall I like the product and would recommend it, especially for the price and the fact that it includes all three of the functions you really need to listen to music today. I just couldn't bring myself to a buy a unit that didn't have a cd player. Sometimes I do like to own them and it would be such a pain to have to go and burn it and synch my ipod before I could listen to my new music, or have to have a separate cd player altogether just to hear it. I'm not happy about the remote not working with the ipod but I'll get over it eventually.

This product first caught my eye because of it's design. And I was sold on it when I heard the sound quality. It's easy to use, and I haven't had any problems with it. The remote is very handy and has every button I'd ever need.
I'd definitely recommend this product if you're looking for something a little nicer than the ihome brand and cheaper than a bose system.
