Picks up radio signals. I constantly hear faint static and music from radio signals that the wires are picking up. This is extremely annoying.
High sounds are muffled. You will not get crisp, clear sound out of the satellite speakers. The bass is loud, which is what I wanted since I was upgrading from the low-quality pair of speakers that came with my computer.
I really like the separate control panel. It allows me to adjust the volume/power without having to reach to the woofer or satellites. It has a power button that turns power off to all the speakers. It also has a master volume dial on the side. The woofer also has its own volume knob. I don't use an iPod so I have nothing to say about the holder.
I tried the "black cord technique" mentioned in another review but the only change I noticed was an increase in volume, not sound quality.
The speakers are wired so that you will not be able to spread them out much. You will have to keep them within about a 4-foot radius of each other. The power cable connects to the woofer. It is permanently attached. There is another wire that goes from the woofer and splits and connects to the satellite speakers and the control panel. This wire is permanently attached to the satellite speakers and control panel, but disconnects from the woofer.
I bought mine at Target for $50.
The woofer wattage is almost twice as much as the Logitech X-230.

I got these speakers to replace a set of Boston speakers I had for almost 10 years - they finally started to take a dirt nap. Upon hooking them up, I found that the sound quality was no where near what my old ones were. The music sounded kind of flat and muffled. I then saw where someone suggested hooking the little black auxiliary cord into the port on the side of the wired remote. Believe it or not, it actually helped the sound quality - a little bit. The longer I listened to them the more I noticed that the sound quality was really pretty crappy. Any base at all in the music started to overpower the little speakers, and I don't generally like all that much base in my music.
The iPod "dock" is really just a very cheap and flimsy plastic shelf that you can set your iPod on, then you plug it in with the auxiliary cord. Nothing fancy here, and not well made at all.
I'm far from being a techno-geek or a music snob, and I was not impressed with these at all. I know they were only $50, but I have some cheap little USB speakers that sound pretty much the same. These are going back to the store.

I bought a set of used ones, but they were much cheaper than buying new. Had my doubts, but shouldn't have worried. Works great and the subwoofer is plenty powerful for personal use.

The speakers are a good model but the set we received have a constant buzz sometimes loud. We decided not to send them back for exchange because it was to much of a hassle to repack and find a post office to send them.
