This was the cheapest connector I could find to replace my cord when the vacuum ate it! I've only had it a couple of hours, but my experience so far is that the construction is definitely cheap (I ordered two and one of them suffers from the wires being exposed slightly where they go into the USB connection). Fortunately, these are cheap as dirt. Be warned that mine came in a standard USPS shipping envelope with no packaging. Looks like they just tossed them in and shipped them. Also, they oddly made the shipping "Time Sensitive." Good for me, because I was relying on my car adapter for power for a few days!
Overall, they seem OK so far and it's going to be nice to have one at work where I don't need to worry too much if it gets snatched.

This cable works fine on my multiple types of Mac systems. There may be some systems it doesn't work with, but my iPhone 3Gs and my iMac / Macbook pro are okay.

I bought 2 of these, one of them broke the first time I used it, the other has worked great with no problems for the last 3 weeks. Given the price I'd say that makes this a good item to buy, just buy more then one.
On the one that broke on first use, the spring housing broke when I extended the cord. I didn't pull as hard as I could, and I didn't over extend it. I believe the housing was cracked and it popped when the force exerted by the spring increased as I extended the cord - or maybe it's just poor constructions, I don't know.
Bottom Line - I say it's a decent product. Good for the price, just get a few incase something happens.

I bought this because it was essentially $3 (after shipping) for a USB cable I could use at the office and on trips. Usually, this kind of thing is a throwaway item for me, but I actually love this one. The cords snap back into such a small compact winding that the cables never get caught or bent.

Nothing spectacular. But exactly as described and worked perfectly. I bought three so that I could have one in various vehicles/computer bags/etc... As with anything built like this you have to be sure to use it right. You pull from both ends, never just one. And gentle is key since the cable is quite thin. But these are no different than any other retractable cable. And the clip into the iPhone/iPod is very sturdy.
