"Not the best, but a great value" 2009-09-12

This cover fits pretty well and looks fine. I've had it a couple of months and it has held up well. The only small issue may be that if you put the I-touch in a tight pocket, a corner of the cover comes loose when you remove it from the pocket. But for the price, it's a great value!

 "Little teeny lifesavers!" 2009-09-25
By S. Kessler
I recently bought my first iPod (had a Zen MP3 player before this) and wanted portable speakers that could go with us on trips where we often stay in B&B-type lodgings that don't have TV or other media in the room. Also wanted something for the car other than an FM-transmitter which does not work well in the NYC-area due to the enormous number of stations on the radio and very little "open" space on the dial. We don't have a CD-player in our car or a plug in for an iPod.

I bought this directly from the Apple Store at the same time I bought my iPod Classic and paid more than I should have, obviously. Still they were the best deal for true portability. I was amazed at how small they were when I opened the package and even more amazed at the relatively big sound quality when I plugged the iPod in. Much, much better than the portable speakers I had for my Zen. And I didn't even need to charge them -- they were fully charged out of the box. The little bag they came with is great -- the whole package fits neatly in my purse.

A few days later, we were off on a much-needed mini-vacation in the country. Sadly, while there, I fell and broke my ankle. I then had to endure a 2 1/2 hour car trip home, stretched out on the back seat of the car with my leg in a very uncomfortable position. I whipped out the little speakers; laid them on the back seat next to me; plugged in the iPod, and the setup proceeded to relieve both my pain and my boredom (and my poor husband's boredom while he was doing a "Driving Miss Daisy" chauffeur routine for me). The sound was great -- very clear -- and fairly loud considering how small they are. He could hear great up in front, and I was nicely distracted sitting in the back.

So these cute little life-savers get a "thumbs up" from me. Can't wait to take another long car trip so we can use them some more.

 "Quality for size" 2009-09-23
By Steve Jensen (Shelbyville, TN United States)
These are smaller than I thought they would be. That being said the sound that they prduce is better than what I expected for speakers their size. Very conveinient to carry to the pool or while detailing the car. The little carry bag that comes with it holds everything nicely. Not a room speaker system but great for what they were made for.

"nice footprint, decent sound, but the hissing noise is annoying" 2009-09-09
By Bryan J. Cohen (Columbus, OH)
I'm not going to rehash what a lot of people have already said about the speakers. They sound decent, especially considering their size. I think you can get a lot more sound out of full size speakers, especially for the $50, but if you want portability, these are nice.

The con, and to me it is a big one, is the hissing noise. I plugged these in to my MacBook pro and the noise was audible but bearable. On my Mac Mini, the hiss turned into a loud whine, and it was as annoying as stinky wolfbreath.

Now, others have said the battery charge lasts for a while. That may be true. But I hate having to find an open USB port to charge something up when I am NOT on the road. That's just plain annoying. I would prefer to just leave the USB plug in a USB port, and only worry about charging when I travel. Unfortunately this is not the case with these speakers.

 "Nice compact speakers." 2009-09-01
By Jeff Roessle (Fontana, CA USA)
I've owned them for about a month.

Decent sound for their size.

Everyone who has heard them is both impressed with their sound and how they shrink and join together for travel.

My only complaint is that they could use a better cable system.

 "I like iy!" 2009-09-19
By E. Gauci (San Jose, CA USA)
OK, I've only had this two days, but so far I like it a lot. It looks very stylish, and it works very well. I tried it one night with my iPhone 3G, and the next night with a video iPod classic. It worked beautifully with each. I've set the display to the dimmest setting, because the other two were too bright for night time. The only thing I'd improve is to make the docking arm a bit sturdier, although I suppose that would add weight. Anyway, nothing has happened to the docking arm, but it just feels like it could be sturdier.

 "works well with iphone" 2009-09-17

This product works great with an iphone - no interference at all. The sound quality is not great, but it's acceptable for listening to soft iphone music in the bedroom. We use it in our toddler's room, and he loves it.

"Great product, could use a few tweaks" 2009-09-12
By Casey Gay (Corpus Christi, TX)
Having used this for a few weeks now, I really like it. The sound quality is acceptable, but don't expect something this size to sound all that great. All the controls are very intuitive and its really easy to setup dual alarms. I recommend this product, but there are a few things to keep in mind if you're shopping around:

- There is no way to specify a "sleep" play list and a "wake" play list...both the sleep and alarm functions just play whatever music your iPod is currently on. This means there is no way to fall asleep to one type of music and wake up to another...seems like a major oversight. You can just wake up to a regular buzzer, though.

- The little slide out cradle where the iPhone sits is a little flimsy, and since the whole device is really pretty small, it's easy to tip it over trying to insert your iPhone.

Gripes aside, this thing does work, it works well, and it's intuitive to use. I'm happy with it, and the price seems fair for what you get.

 "Wow is it bright!" 2009-09-11
By Online (Ohio)
O.K. I read all the reviews and saw that other complained the clock radio was rather bright. I figured they probaby didnt know you could adjust the brightness of the clock radio and purchased one anyways. I was wrong. The clock radio is extremely bright at night. On the lowest setting it lit up the entire bedroom and I could not sleep unless I put a T-shirt over the clock radio, and a dark t-shirt at that, a white one didn't reduce the brightness much. So beware, it is bright, but other wise works great and charges my 3GS iPhone every night.

I've solved the brightness problem by applying a small piece of leftover automotive window tinting film. The Gila window treatment would work too. Or the cling type film new parents put on car windows to provide shade for new babies. But it needed something. I used a cup to cut out a circle and applied it with water that activates the tinting solvent. Works great and no more spotlight on me at night.

The dual alarm function is great. I've had no problems picking up radio stations at all.

 "Funny sound, loose connection" 2009-09-28
By Danielle (new jersey)
The three stars are mostly because this was cheap and arrived quickly.

Unlike the photos, the charger that arrived wasn't in plastic packaging (which I suppose you could call a plus), and it looked slightly different - a short, wide plug.

If works, but what drives me crazy is that when it's plugged in, it makes a shrill, high-pitched tone, like those anti-mosquito devices. Supposedly you can't hear these frequencies when you're older, but I'm 24 and it was bothersome enough that I had to move it away from my night stand.

Also, when it's plugged into my iPod touch, the connection is loose, so I can't even hold the iPod in my hand without it disconnecting and reconnecting several times.

All in all, obviously cheaply made, but very cheap. Fine as a second or travel charger.

I bought this to charge my Apple iPod nano and it works great. I much prefer to charge it with this, rather than plug it into my computer - since most of the time I don't need to synch anything.

I haven't had any problems - and at this price it's a pretty great deal. It doesn't work with my son's Apple iPod touch, but it does exactly what I want with my own device.

There are enough good amount of reviews for it. I'm just adding a 5 stars ^_^

It looks nice (glossy)

It works

It charges quick

Has 2 ports

Has wire long enough to extend all the way to back of car

additional: I used it with a 3G S.

No CON so far.

If you are thinking about buying a $5 charger.. [...], just make sure u know it will work. I bought one before for ~~$5. When plugged it, it will light up and you'll see the charging-battery icon, but in fact.. even if it's plugged in for hours, no power is coming in. There's an article explaining why that happen, that I'm not going into that.

BUY THIS ONE WITH CONFIDENT KNOWING IT WILL WORK AND IT'S THE BEST ONE AROUND. =) (Performance and price wise)

"Rated high by Apple App store" 2009-09-11
By The Gadgetman (Phoenix, AZ)
I almost ordered one from Griffin, but after reading rave reviews of this product on Apple App Store I decided to order this one. It's slightly more expensive than Griffin version, but I wanted a unit that wouldn't give me problems (the unit is officially listed by Apple to be compatible with all three versions of iPhones). It comes with two cables for iPhone/iPod and mini-USB. The charger has two USB-slots, one being the "quick charger". Nice feature is that unlike some chargers I can also use these cables with other sources like my laptop...and also attach other USB cables to charge other units like my stereo bluetooth headsets that uses the new micro-USB adapter. Best of all, it has two connectors so you can charge two items at the same time.

This item is perfect for me. I have 2 phones, one work and one personal and can charge them at the same time, or if my boyfriend is with me, we can both use the charger without leaving one of us juiceless. I have an iphone 3gs, a sidekick, and my boyfriend has a G1, all of which this is compatable with, and I also have a friend who has charged her blackberry on this. Def worth the purchase.

I originally bought one of these, to hook my mp3 player to my stereo. It worked fine, but that just made me want to use it in other places. So I now own four of these - at this price, why bother unhooking and rehooking! I have had no problems with any of them. They were all shipped quickly - although you don't get any discount on the shipping when you have multiples in one shipment. But then again, that STILL puts them at less than $3 apiece. Good deal.

 "Excellent Portable iTouch Player" 2009-09-28
By Nickie K. Flambures (Oklahoma City, OK)
I have had this player for about a month. I love it! It is much easier to put my iTouch into this player and hear the sound throughout my house, than messing with the player in my home theater system. I am not an audiophile, so music (pop, top 40, dance) all sound great to me with this player. It charges the iTouch when the iTouch is docked, it charges the player, when the iTouch is not docked (assuming the power cord is plugged int).

"Positives and Negatives after a week of use" 2009-09-27
By Eugene M. Norris (Florida)
Physical: Nice little unit, smaller than I thought. Weight is only a couple of pounds (a kilo). Much smaller than the Altec-Lansing unit it replaced. Width is about 3-1/2 iPod Classics, height less than 1. Nice styling. Physically, the unit has little rubber feet that are intended to let it stand a little back of vertical with the speakers directed slightly above the horizontal, but the unit is unstable with or without an iPod in it. You can either let it rest on its front edge, with the speakers pointing down 10 degrees or so, or you can lean its back against a support.

Remote: The wireless remote controller is a plus, works well, handles all iPod controls. The on-off on the remote turns the iPod on/off at the same time as the unit.

Sound: Quality is better than good. No tone controls, and no ear-splitting volume levels. There's a rear port with an eighth-note icon, but I don't know if it is for input or output, and I can't find any documentation on this.

Battery: It charged well initially and continues to do so after the first charge. I've run it for several hours but not the full 10 hours of claimed battery charge. Unit is usable while being charged.

iPod Adapters: In order to accommodate the variety of iPods there are, you choose one of half a dozen plastic inserts that fit around the base. They snap in place around the iPod port and so might be tedious to interchange if you have two different styles of iPod.

I live out of a suitcase. So do all my co-workers. I bought my first one a little over a year ago. I was impressed by it's size, and weight, but mostly by it high quality and high volume sound. At home use a 30 year old set of Bose 901s. I like good sound, and in my opinion these little speakers are impressive.

Before I came home a co-worker pleaded with me to sell him mine, and a couple others asked if I would bring them one. I've brought 10 of them to Africa now. There have been no problems with any of them.

The battery life is great. The sound is great. They're light and fit in my suitcase well.

"Great Portable Player for iPhone" 2009-09-18
By E. Schnee (Byron, CA, USA)
I bought the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 as a dock to charge my iPhone, play music, and to get portable speakers that could be used outdoors.

The sound is pure, the volume range is great, and thankfully there is no interference, white noise or crackling that I heard on other players.

I first learned that it needed a 2 hour charge so that it would respond to the remote control or even to it's onboard control buttons (volume +/-, On/Off).

So far the battery life is good, and I get over 3 hours of use per charge.

It's does all of the things I wanted: charges my iPhone, plays the songs and can play outdoors on batteries.

I'm happy.
