I read the one star reviews and I did not have any problems with my device and I feel bad for those folks. For the price this is the best Ipod dock/speaker setup I have used. The sound quality is great. I use the alarm every day and it is awesome to have my music to wake up to. The standard ringer works great too. I have just bought a second one to put in my office; I have grown tired of moving it between there and my bedroom. The remote is also very handy.

Would not recommend this product. Got it working for about 5 minutes after bringing it home, then as I attempted to set alarms, all buttons stopped functioning. Tried new batteries, had a friend who is great with gadgets try resetting it, nothing. Buttons also poorly designed and can see how they would be an issue if using it for an alarm clock. For the few minutes I had it working, the music sounded good, but the inability to adjust the volume due to the failure of any of the controls to work had me very frustrated. Very disappointed.

Don't waste your money on this unit. I bought one in May, and in mid-August, it just stopped working. It wouldn't respond to any button you pressed (volume, radio preset, play, pause, etc.) All buttons just stopped working.



Amazon sent me a replacement unit about 6 days ago, which worked fine until this afternoon, when, once again, the same symptoms reappeared. Buttons no longer work.



Quality control, or perhaps even basic engineering, is substandard. I'd be suspicious of any product from iHome.

I've spent a lot of time and some money looking for a suitable speaker set for my Ipod Touch. I like to view movies while laying in bed and this is perfect. No power cords to get in the way, sound is good for my purposes. There is a little ledge to rest the Ipod on, and it allows me to view in landscape mode. All the docking speakers force me to remove the case and most of them force portrait mode position. This is perfect as I don't want to struggle with the case or viewing position. It's a great value for my uses.

This is a very, very basic speaker to increase the volume you get out of your mp3 player. It's nothing more than a battery-powered speaker with an on-off switch, a small light, and a cord to plug into the mp3 player's audio output. It's important to note that **there is no dock**. Just a small ledge to rest the mp3 player on, with a slot that your player may or may not fit into. Also, no place to recharge your player, no power cord, no volume control (other than the control on your mp3 player). But for $15, you can hardly complain. Using my iPod Touch, the sound is loud and clear enough to hear across the room. It's somewhat tinny, and distorts at top volume, but that's probably caused by the Touch rather than the speakers and can be avoided by keeping the volume down a notch.

Wow...this thing is great. Yes, it runs on batteries. And no, it doesn't charge your ipod. But it costs $18 and it's portable! All you need is 4 AA batteries and you can take your music anywhere! It's great if you are having a BBQ, hanging out on the boat, or just want to move it from room to room to enjoy your ipod! I loved it so much, I ordered a second one just to have for when I do stuff outside. It's little, it's loud, it's a great setup. Totally worth the money!

the speakers for their size get decently loud. i like these speakers a lot but i did listen to numerous songs on full volume on my ipod and i have blown them already (i got them about 3 weeks ago). i can now only play songs at half volume or else the base sounds terrible. the sound quality is good and i would still recommend these speakers.

generally, I like this product. Would be nice if it fit in standard water bottle cage but the one it comes with did line up with the holes on my frame so took me about 5 minutes to change. I still have another cage for actual water. When I am riding with a big group, would be nice if it were louder but I already have issues hearing people talk to me when this one is on so would be worse if louder. Small challenge figureing out where to mount the remote given I have a bike computer and lights on my handlebar already - by them stem was my final location and works great. Used just a few times but so far, the design is easy to use and the sound is really great for the single speaker.

This speaker system does exactly what it claims. MY Nano IPOD docks inside it nicely and after over 3000 miles of biking I've yet to have a failure. It has remained weather proof through rain, snow and mud. It has also worked equally well in temps ranging from the teens to over 90f. It does require the use of 4 double A batteries, which could be wasteful because it does burn through the batteries. However, I have been leveraging rechargable double A batteries and get over 12 hours of play time between charges.



I would recommend this speaker system, but one word of caution they leverage a single frequency for their remote control connection and if you ride near another person with the speaker you can control their speaker and they can control yours. Also if your battery goes dead on the remote there is no way of controlling the volume and the default volume is to low to overcome average road noise

This little gem is great for taking with you anywhere, the sound is good. The only glich we've discovered is shutting off or taking a skip every now and then. Not sure if that's because we've had it for over a month and have never changed the batteries. We don't use it all the time, just when we're outside working on a project or somewhere that we don't have a stereo. I have an ipod classic and have been told that those actually have discs in them but it's on a counter when it skips so I'm thinking that it may have a short loss of power...Otherwise, we love it.

I had this radio about 2 years ago and worked wonderfully till it recently stopped working. Great by the pool, throw in luggage for travel and set up in hotel room. Very portable around the house.



I figured I got good use out of for 2 years for 50 bucks so I wanted to buy a new one. I got one from Amazon but didn't get a chance to open it and try it out till after the 30 day limit on returns. Well... two thing were wrong with it, the plugin adapter to the wall did not work and no sound came out of it. Just clicks... Screwed. But I liked the radio so I decided to give it another try and get one from Radio Shack. It also had a similar problem that the adapter would not charge it but I did get sound using batteries (at the beginning) but that only lasted a couple weeks. Then I got NO SOUND!!! Luckily I kept he Radio Shack receipt and returned it for my money back. I'm at a loss and still looking for a good portable ipod player (one you can feel comfortable with taking to the pool).



My advice is to be wary when buying the product and keep the reciept. Make sure you know the return policy and don't wait to test it.

This is great product if you are looking for an alarm clock that is not so painful to hear you want to throw it across the room! I had looke din to the light clock, ya know they slowly light up the room to wake you, but I feel this is far better and cheaper! Works great with my Nano and thus far we have had not problems. Love the light blue color the light has and love that when the power goes out (as it does often here) the battery keeps it going (not the light FYI just the clock). Over all we are very pleased with this product and would by another in the future.

I had a difficult time getting the thing to work and had to call customer service and play around with it for awhile.



The issues I had were:



1. My 80g Ipod doesn't fit one of the docks that come with it therefore you have to be extra careful when docking it that you don't bend the pins.You can buy a dock from their website.



2. The IPod must be in pause or un play mode to work. If it is in play mode, it won't work. So you listen to a song at night, then hit pause on the Ipod, then in the mornng the ih4 will wake you up to that song.



3. It will play to a playlist. The only thing the ih4 does really is start your Ipod working. It doesn't do anything else and doesn't program anything. So if you have a playlist, it will play the next song on the playlist after the song you ended with the night before.



4. Because of No.3 above, I recommend making a separate "alarm" playlist so you can wake up to the songs you want to wake up to.



5. The ih4 alarm was delayed by 24 seconds before it would play. Not a big deal. So instead of turning on at 7 am , music comes on 24 seconds later.



It does make for a great small dock to play music in a room. Now that I have it sort of working I'll see about it's alarm function. I plan to keep a regular noisy back up alarm for 15 minutes later and would suggest that to anyone.

This iHome alarm clock is sweet! You can wake up to music. And it can charge your ipod. When I first got it I set the alarm and didn't wake up to beeping noises and I was glad because that's annoying. And you listen to it when you have a party and you don't need a cd player. You should definitely get this iHome alarm clock. If you don't like the color purple or white you can get it in other colors too.

The first time I saw this item, it really caught my eye. I liked that you could turn it on its side to watch a movie! And I really just liked the look of the machine itself!! It didn't disappoint me at all when I tried it out. The sound quality is really good. I was nicely surprised. It's nice and compact so you can put it on your night stand or desk and for get it's there. I'll be starting college in a couple weeks and I'm moving into a dorm, so the smaller the better. This will be a good alarm clock for me and my room mate. With the back up battery, you can easily move it to the bathroom or where ever and not have to reset the time. There's only two cons I can come up with. 1. It really bites that there's no "Next" or "Last track" buttons on the machine though. You have to use the Ipod to change songs. 2. It's really annoying that the remote is not included. It's another $20 to get it. Other than that, the machine is definitely worth it!

I ordered this after receiving the previous non iphone compatable version as a gift. I wanted a small unit for my office at work. It comes with some plastic inserts for docking different versions of ipods which I didn't use. I can connect and charge my first gen Iphone without removing the silicon rubber style case I use. There is a little battery indicator on the front that looks like the iphone charge indicator, but it's actually for the units battery backup, not an indicator of the iphones charge. It will turn sideways for watching video,(a nice feature I probably wont use) and still stay connected.



The sound is good but not great, I believe it's just a single speaker and this may be the reason for my one con; it doesn't fill a space with sound at low volume very well, which is how I use it at work, I think stereo units are better for low volume play. The remote is well designed, and controls the ipod app nicely.



I'm not sure I would use it as an alarm clock as even though the snooze & reset buttons are on the top of the speaker, I could see myself banging the Iphone when reaching for it, which might not be good as it sort of just balances on the plug, without a back-rest of any sort.



If size is your first priority this is a good choice, its not much bigger than a typical PC speaker. If stereo sound quality is your priority you might want to consider a unit with multiple speakers.
