I bought the S9HD because it was only $30 (+/-) more than the regular S9. The sound clarity is far superior than the S9. You get phone conversation out of both sides, unlike the S9 which only gives you sound from one side. It paired very easily with my IPhone and plays songs from my Ipod section and great sound using my Sirius APP and my AOL APP. The only thing I have a problem with is the battery life. It is unpredictable, sometimes lasting only a couple hours. Well worth the money i paid on AMAZON.

When reading reviews for a product I tend to throw out the best and the worst reviews as some people are either too much of a fan or too critical. I tend to pay attention to the pros and cons from the middle crowd. I never thought I'd be someone to write such a bad review but here I am.
First let me say the sound quality is absolutely INCREDIBLE! It's the best sound I've had from a pair of headphones and still be comfortable in my ears because it's not shoved deep into my ear canal. Unfortunately, it won't stay in the proper place in my ears to keep the great quality. The back part, which "floats" above your neck is way too low for me. You just cannot look up. If you do just a bit, the back part will press against the back of your neck and pop the ear buds out of your ear. I was sitting at a chinese fast food place trying to eat while wearing these. Every time I leaned in for a bite, they'd spread out of my ears making the sound quality horrible. Remember buds like these need to have a great seal in your ears to give great sound.
If you wear glasses, forget it. I don't wear glasses so I didn't think about that until I decided to go for a jog wearing these AND sunglasses. Oops! Two objects fighting for space behind my ears? I don't think so.
Then there's all the complaints on here about the sound cutting out. They're all right. I was hoping they were just being too critical. I guess I should have listened to their warnings. As some others have said I too have tried putting my iPod Touch in my front shirt pocket, pants pocket or even carry it in my hand holding it up near my head. This thing STILL cuts out at least 6 times a minute for a quick one second silent pause each time. If I reach up and hit a volume button, it will stutter for about 12 times sound on and off until it finally comes back steady... until the next cut-out. This is just ridiculous and it makes this device a complete annoyance.
Finally, I'm shocked by the rechargeable battery. Once I got these things home and started reading the manual, I was amazed to read the book state this product is good for 400 charges. That's it? Really? That makes this a very expensive, disposable headset... that doesn't stay in my ears if I look up, difficult to wear with glasses and cuts in and out all the time. Crazy!

I ordered these headsets directly from Amazon, but from another link on this site. They are currently out of the set I ordered so I am unable to leave a review there. The set I ordered was the Motorola MOTOROKR S9 HD Bluetooth Stereo Headset (Black) (Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging)- $59.
When I recieved the item I noticed that there was no sound coming from the right ear when I made phone calls. The sound for music was stereo, and slightly worse than wired headphones, but still good considering it is bluetooth. Also, the skip forward/skip backward buttons on my set did not work properly. After going to Motorola's site to find out if mono sound during calls was normal, I learned that it was not. In the new HD S9 headphones, sound is supposed to come from both ears when making calls. I also happened to notice that my headphones looked exactly the same as the headphones on the picture from Motorola's site, but for several small differences. The 'play/pause' button and the 'phone' button on my set were white, and on Motorola's site the picture showed those button's being black. Also, there was a slight protrusion on for the volume buttons and the skip forward/backward buttons in the Motorola picture, and on mine set those buttons were flat.
I called Motorola customer support to verify that an authentic pair should not have white buttons and to verify that the serial number on my set was a valid serial number. The agent said there is no version of this headset that has white on the buttons, and he could not find my serial number in his system. I am now assuming my pair is a knock-off. Motorola agreed to promptly send a new pair and will investigate my pair when I send them in. The reason this is strange is that my pair came directly from Amazon's store, and not from a satellite store or reseller on Amazon's site. Either situation would be disheartening, because of Amazon's reputation for working only with quality resellers, but the fact that Amazon is selling a knock off directly from their store is more shocking.
If you order these, please make sure when they arrive that the only white existing anywhere on the headset is the Motorola logo. That is a sure sign of a knockoff.
Although I cannot speak to the quality of an authentic pair, I will comment on my experience with my set.
Pros:
-Sound quality was good
-People on the other other end of my calls said they could hear me clearly
-The range was good - about 15 feet
-Battery lasts a long time
-Easy to charge
-Relatively comfortable after a while.
-No more cord
Cons
-Extremely uncomfortable at first. I am 6'4 and have a fairly big head, so that may be a factor, but these are tight. They press against your ear and give you a headach for the first couple of days of wearing them.
-Becasue they are one-size-fits-all, the hang down too far in the back. When I used them with a coat or a collared shirt, they would constantly grind against the collar and create more pressure on my ear. You do get used to it though.
-Even though they are sleek and as inconspicuous as possible, you will still look like an idiot when you wear them.
Overall, I hate wires so much that I am willing to put up with the slight discomfort to enjoy bluetooth. Shame on you Amazon for selling knockoffs.

I bought the S9-HD with the idea that this would take my music mobile: in other words, be used in motion. If you're looking for a pair of headphones for when you work out: running, biking, playing tennis, or just generally moving around with your phone clipped to your belt, then these headphones succeed. If you're looking for the perfect Bluetooth headphones to kick back with, lie on the couch, or while away the hours with, you will be disappointed. The design of the S series is intended to cling to your neck, drill down into your ears, and stay there no matter what. As an added benefit, the body of the headset stays off your head, away from sweat and not tangling in your hair like over-the-head headphones do.
The downsides here are:
- The signal. Even on a full charge, I can't put my phone on my belt in the front: the Bluetooth antenna is in the back of the S9, and I'll get dropouts just walking, and more if I'm turning or bending. I have to put the phone on my belt in the back, or mount it on the highest point of the treadmill in front of me to keep a consistent signal. I also tried these on my laptop, and so long as I didn't lean back, they worked (my standard HS-809 headset does not have this problem).
- The comfort. The design grabs behind your ears and rubber sheaths on the speakers go down in the ear canal. The weight of the back of the S9 pulls on these pressure points, and after an hour or so, you'll start feeling it. If you've got a large head, you might find yourself experiencing headaches after any prolonged use.
That said, with the right source, the speakers produce surprisingly good sound quality: they'll never match expensive noise-cancelling headsets, but they definitely do better than any earbuds or standard behind-the-head rigs I've used.
You'll enjoy the S9 so long as you bear in mind that the Motorola S9s are your companion for when you're active. If you want to kick back, I'd recommend something more comfortable. This unit also comes with a drawstring bag (I somehow got two), and an adapter to communicate with an iPod (but again, you'll probably want the iPod close to the S9). Instructions are simple and pair-bonding with devices is no different for the S9 than anything else; check your device's settings to properly connect.
