Accelerometer
iPod touch responds to motion using a built-in accelerometer.
Responds to Movement
iPod touch detects when you rotate it from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display. So you immediately see the entire width of a web page, view a photo in its proper aspect ratio, or control a game using only your movements.
How it Works
The accelerometer inside iPod touch uses three elements: a silicon mass, a set of silicon springs, and an electrical current. The silicon springs measure the position of the silicon mass using the electrical current. Rotating iPod touch causes a fluctuation in the electrical current passing through the silicon springs. The accelerometer registers these fluctuations and tells iPod touch to adjust the display accordingly.

I have been extremely happy with my Touch. I use it daily at the gym, at home, in the car. I upgraded from a 2 GB nano and I really love all the music I can have with me. I also have my favorites movies to help pass the time on the treadmill, the Kindle app so I always have a book with me, an app that allows me to send text messages and a few games. I'm just starting to use the calendar function, but I love having it all in one place. I am so impressed with it that I almost want to get an iPhone, but I refuse to switch my cell carrier. My only annoyance is the battery life. It's really poor. I found an app that tells me approximately how much time I have left depending on what I am doing (movies, music, etc.). I've gotten used to the issue and it's only a minor annoyance for me personally. I keep it docked when I'm not using it and I found a package through an Amazon affiliate that was all of about $10 for a retractable data cable, wall charger, car charger and silicone case with armband. I just keep the charger pieces in my purse so I have them whenever I need them. In the month I've had it, I think there has been only one time that I wasn't able to use it because the battery died. Not bad considering how much I use it. Buying the Touch was a real splurge for me and I don't regret it one bit!

I have no complaints about this product at all. I have plenty of memory to keep two movies, about 600 pictures, a few hundred songs, several pages of apps, and still have a little room to spare. The movies eat up the most memory by far. I do recommend the update from iTunes-- the ability to copy and paste alone is worth the price.

I love, love, love my ipod. I use it every single day, and have not had any problems with it. It is an amazing little piece of technology!! I have only two complaints with it. In order to put pictures on it, you have to have Adobe Photoshop elements 7, which is an expensive program, on top of the already expensive ipod. You can download a trial version, but it is only for 30 days. So, if you take any new pictures after that 30 days, it's either pay the high price for the software, or you're out of luck. The other is that if you get a new computer, as I did, it is so time consuming to move all of your data. The other ipods can be used as an external hard drive, but not the touch. It's the most advanced of the ipods, but it for some reason does not have that feature. Other than that I really have no complaints. The 16g has plenty of space for anything that you want to put on there. It well worth the money.

The iPod touch is the best I love it and 16 GB of memory is a lot I have all my music, Photos, Videos and lots of games and apps and still have lots of space.
I like that you can connect to the internet and check the mail, chat whit you friends, check the wheatear, the stocks, maps and play my favorite games, is a very handy tool too, when I'm in a hurry I check all on my iPod and don't need to turn on my computer I'm so happy , Is the best buy!!!!

Had a little trouble downloading the software, but after that was done it's been great. My daughter loves it.... clarity of videos is awesome, very easy to use, slim design make it easy to put in a pocket, built in speaker makes it easy to share.
