Ok, i was in a rush when I bought this and thought, hey, this is the exact same thing as my iPhone headset.



Has a mic, check and yes, has a remote control of volume.

Little did i know, that this thing works ONLY with the iPod, and apparently not even with EVERY iPod, but only a few select ones. It also works with a few MacBooks, but again, not with EVERY MacBook.



I thought this information was hard to extract from the description, even though it actually does state " ... works with blah, blah ..." - it doesn't explicitly say which - apple - device it doesn't work with.



My loss, their gain, I guess.

3 stars for that, as I am sure the deception is on purpose. I am not the first person to mention it.

Although most people say that the standard Apple Earphones don't actually fit them well enough (fall off from ears occasionally), these Earphones are worth the price. These are expensive little buggers, but I really like them. I bought them so I could turn my iPod Touch 3G into a ghetto iPhone using Skype, and although I almost never use it for that, I've tried it and it does work fine. I've found at times that clicking the control on the headphones is a little tough to work just right, but most of the time it does the job of skipping, pausing, and replaying songs well. The volume control on the headphones is flawless. The mic works really well, in my opinion, considering it's extremely small size. In combination with the voice memo app on the iPod Touch, you can record voice memos for yourself as well as record your voice for other apps (like "fake caller," a free app that entertained my friend's kids for hours). So this really adds a lot more functionality to an iPod Touch and can even turn it into a back-up phone when you're in a wi-fi hotspot (Skype app and a fee to call land lines are required).

 "Can't recommend these for in ear headphones fans" 2009-10-23

I only use "in ear" style headphones due to the need to block out sound while on my daily mass transit commutes, and I've been the happy owner of a pair of Shure e2c phones (that I lost in a move) and a pair of Etymotic er6i (after about 3 years of use, the right channel wire severed at the 90 degree plastic piece near the plug). After I was unable to repair my er6is, I was in the market for some new phones. I had a pair of Sennheiser mx400 ear buds that I had got for my girlfriend as replacements to her iPod phones, but she didn't like their fit. I like the sound of the mx400s but the fit and lack of an acoustic seal were a problem for me, so I decided to try out the Acoustibuds with the mx400s as a cost-effective new setup.



When I first received the Acoustibuds I was fairly pleased with the fit, as the buds sat comfortably in my ears and didn't move while walking/running. However, the acoustic seal was not nearly as effective as any of the previous in ear phones I've had. One of the selling points of the Acoustibuds is also that they increase bass performance, which I found to be true both for good and for bad. Recordings that had previously seemed a bit "thin" with the mx400s alone now had noticeably fuller bass, however with hip hop and some jazz the bass was too loud and "buzzy" in my ears, which was uncomfortable. With some EQ tweaking it was resolved, but I prefer something more neutral.



My big problem with the Acoustibuds is their durability. These come 4 to a package. 3 weeks after I first started using the Acoustibuds, one developed a crack in the "ring" which encloses the earbud. Within a few days after that the hole had grown to a point where it would no longer stay on the earbud at all and had to be thrown away. I replaced it with one of the remaining Acoustibuds, but again within a few weeks the other "original" Acoustibud seemed to have lost its elasticity in the ring, and continually fell off the earbud. Unsurprisingly it was lost soon thereafter. In less than 2 months I was down to 2 out of the 4 left in the pack.



I decided to superglue the remaining two Acoustibuds to the earbuds, which did seem to help, however in my 4th month of owning them one of the Acoustibuds did crack and fall off, so now I'm left with just one.



In my experience, you'd be much better off taking the money you were considering spending on the Acoustibuds and applying it towards the purchase of an actual pair of in ear headphones.

I was looking for a way to keep my iPod earbuds in my ear on my walks. The product is a great idea, but beware, not everyone's ear canals may be big enough. Even the smallest of the two sizes provided is too large for my ear canals. I have taken a scalpel to one set to remove some of the ribs - it fits a little better, but they're still a pain to insert. Again, I still think the product is a great idea, IF you're lucky enough to have the right size ear canal for them.

I bought these buds to enhance my cell phone bluetooth headset (Jawbone II) as recommended by other users... Boy, what a mistake. I tried the various sizes on the headset, but they just didn't work out like I thought they would. The bud kept slipping out of my ear and the sound quality did not improve. I tried turning the buds to different angles, etc., but nothing seemed to work. I dunno... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but they were a waste of money for me.

I purchased these for a pair of sport earbuds I own, and they worked wonders. Surprisingly, I have smaller ear canals, but the size 6 pair worked the best. They provide some sound isolation (noise-canceling and those silicone-tipped earbuds are most likely better) but they do increase sound performance from whatever you're listening to. I usually listen to my Nano at about half volume, but I can easily reduce the volume now down to about 1/4 of the way. They're also quite comfortable, and manage to stay in my ears, even with an occasional yank and whatnot. Would recommend these for any and all earbud users; It definitely makes them much more bearable to use!

Only one of the 2 sets would fit in my ears. And while they did give added traction to dollar store headphones to make them fit a little better, they didn't solve the problem. They still would fall out. Although if you used these with a head band over your ears, then you could run and jump and they would stay in :)

 "Hard to get in but stay once there" 2009-06-28

These buds will make the iPhone headphones stay in your ears but you may have trouble inserting them. It takes 2 hands for me to get them comfortably into my ears since they are large. I have to wiggle them into place. Once in my ears, they do enhance the sound but they will not make you forget that you are listening with Apple headphones.



The negative: I cannot get them into my ears fast enough to answer the phone. When the phone rings, I have to unplug, answer then insert the Acoustibuds so I can continue the conversation using the headphones. I wish they were easier to insert.



I also own V-Mode noise canceling headphones which insert quickly and block ALL outside noise. I like that these allow some outside sounds so I am not completely cut off when exercising outdoors.

Great concept but really poor execution or just a lack of variety. The following people have tried the set of earbuds we orderd: myself, my wife, my son, two different neighbors, and my brother. They did not fit comfortably in a single persons' ear. I don't understand, why are we unable to purchase sizes 2,3, or 4? The sizes they send are waaayyyyy to big to the point that they are uncomfortable.



I jammed them into my ear for one run just to see if I could make use of them and my ears hurt for the rest of the night. A great idea but poor execution.

I ordered these headphones in March 2009 ... well, the sound is completely goe from the left side and about to go out on the right. These headphones were uncomfortable from the beginning ... I got them because I needed something that stayed on my ear while walking. I tried to do research and read reviews and had hoped that these were going to be comfortable. I used the headphones during the work week while on the train to/from work; which is about a 35 minute ride. I don't have the volume up that high - the quality of this product is terrible. I'm on a hunt for another set of headphones.

I must have special ear canals because the earbuds that come with my iPods are totally useless for me unless I'm sitting perfectly still, which is highly unlikely!



These Sound-Squared "SPORT" earphones earbuds live up to their name because they didn't blow out on me after a few sweaty workout sessions like so many other's I've owned in the past. They stay put on my head and they don't hurt even after wearing them for a long time. I like that I can use these earbuds for running and weight lifting, they don't get in the way when I'm using the bench while lifting weights. The kind that connect around the back of the head are good for running, bad for the gym.



Please note these earphones are advertised as being having a removable ear hook. That feature is an integral aspect to their function because it enables the hook to rotate 360 degrees and conform so nicely to the head to provide the comfort.

No fixed hook earphone can conform to the head like the Sport-Squared can, and for their price the Sport earphones deliver well above average sound quality and are very durable. The ear cushions are also removable as this type of earphone requires proper fit to deliver optimum sound performance. The package comes with 3 different size earbuds, so you can choose the size providing the best seal within the ear canal could be selected.



The customer service is top notch!! I would definately purchase from this vendor again.

 "Sound is great but you need to work with them" 2009-10-18

I've had my E2Cs for almost two years. I had to send them in for repair because the cord began to degrade and finally one of the buds worked intermittently. I sent it in for repair and I got brand new (not refurbished) ones back with no questions. Warranty service is GREAT!



BUT this review is not about Sure's warranty. Its about the quality of these earbuds that took me nine months of ownership to discover.



Out of the box the performance of these buds is good but not out of this world, until you set up your music players EQ. These buds are a little over-zealous in the upper end and the lower end needs at least a baby boost to sound like it should. Further, when playing with iTunes I get vastly better results by first turning down the pre-amp. After turning down the pre-amp, bumping the bass up and trimming the highs I get amazing results. Brahms never sounded better and Bromst blows my mind. I only wish I could apply this custom EQ setting to my iPhone for these kind of results on the go.



Another great thing about this set is that you can run the cord behind your ear and down your back so that the cord doesn't get in your way while you work. Its also great for listening while riding my scooter with a helmet (at safe, low volumes, with one bud, only while the scooter isn't in motion and is off the road, of course).



So: great comfort, excellent sound quality, and superb support. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat! The ONLY reason I have to give them four stars is because I do think these should be a bit better out-of-the box.

I bought the earphones solely to listen to the movie/music aboard long distance flights. Sound quality is comparable to the earphones supplied by the airline. The sound isolating feature depends on how tightly the earphones are fitted to the ear. Earphones come with a selection of different side adapters to match different ear sizes but finding the adapter tight enough to both isolate sound and to not fall out when moving your head is a nuisance particularly when squashed into economy seating.

I love these earphones- they are comfortable and the sound is excellent. I actually bought 2 pairs, one for me and one for my husband. 6 months after we bought them, my husband's pair broke, where the connection in one ear continually broke up. Now, 9 months after purchase, my own pair is having the same problem. I'm guessing it's due to the design of the earbuds, which go up and over your ear, and the continual bending probably wears the connection out quickly.



I contacted Shure with my receipt and they immediately replaced my husband's pair. Hopefully they do the same with mine, as there is a 1 year warranty on these headphones.



Considering the price and the low life span of them, I wouldn't purchase these again. If Shure made another product that didn't require the bending/twisting of the wires then I'd gladly stay with Shure.
