I have the fold-out, book-like case from Amazon, which I like, but wanted something else for my briefcase. When reading on the train, I like holding the device by itself and it's not easy to detach it from the Amazon kindle case quickly. So this sleeve is inexpensive and sturdy and the simple design looks quite nice. Slips easily into your bag and it's easy to slip the reader in and out. I'm sure there are higher quality leather products, but this is surprisingly nice-looking for a $20 purchase. I am pleased.......
I'm a complete utilitarian. I wanted a no-nonsense Kindle case that was slim and sturdy. And his sleeve fit the bill perfectly. It's lightweight. The Kindle slips in easily and stays put -- no zippers, snaps, or velcro to fiddle with. The case material is quite protective and so far hasn't scuffed or shown any sort of wear (and I have lugged it everywhere). And it doesn't change the Kindle's form factor -- it's still very slim and smooth, easy to carry. And it was inexpensive! I couldn't be happier. ......
The OCTO slip cover is a very good, slim line cover for the Kindle. I gave it an impressive 4 stars because the price was appropriate and the design meets my needs. I wanted to be able to have my Kindle with me in my purse everyday as I commute on the metro. I did not want to have to hassle with zippers or fastners. I wanted a case I could easily slip the Kindle in and out of, but didn't want the Kindle to be able to easily slip out on it's own either. I also wanted a subtle case, that did not scream out "Look Here! This is an expensive Kindle...STEAL ME" This case meets all of the above stated needs. The case looks like a small clip board, and not an expensive piece of technology. The faux leather is just that, but it doesn't have a cheap feel to me. The color is dark espresso brown...almost black but not quite. The Kindle does not fall out of it when moving around my larger purses. The inside is grey, and feels like it is sort of the back side of leather, but I think it is a micro-suede material. The case is very light, and does not add very much additional weight making it easy to carry in your bag. One thing I unexpectedly like is the way you can put the Kindle in upside down if you would like, and the charging port is now available. That way, you can plug it in to charge, and it still has some protection just in case...and you always know where the case is located. The lack of the 5th star is due to the only flaw in the product. Along the inside edge of the case, they have heat sealed the fabric to the faux leather exterior, which resulted in a shart, scratchy edge. I ran my finger on the inside of the case and it hurt! I worried about this edge scratching the Kindle face or the metal back. I removed most of the scratchiness by using a nail file (emery board) to sand off the sharp plastic that was heat sealed there. This worked perfectly, but it is a step that you have to take that the manufacturers should have taken. ......
This was the 3rd Kindle 2 cover I bought, and I love it! It fits into my purse, it keeps it safe, it looks great.... I just plain love it. I love being able to take me Kindle 2 out and lay flat, or balance on a pillow. The leather book type covers are great too, especially if you travel, or read on public transportation, but this is my vote of the best. I believe it looks very elegant, clean, neat, well made.......
I purchased the Belkin sleeve and the Incipio Underground case and returned both. The Belkin did not have a snug fit for the Kindle and the Incipio case just felt cheap. Tried this case and it's perfect. Kindle slides in and out easily and is well protected. Wish they had it in black.......
