...but not as advertised. There are no good FM transmitters out there. And this is just one more I tried. It's all pot luck if it works - the right car, location in the US, maybe even the phase of the moon...who knows. But plug it in to the cassette and all is well. The wide open position was barely wide enough to hold the iPhone and it can't even compress at all - it just presses in there. Should be a bit wider. And the goose neck will flop all over the place so you'll need to apply some Velcro to make it stick and stay where you want it. It also looks a bit clunky. But, yes, I'm using it. Once it's set up it seems to do just fine.......
As with most FM transmitters this thing has a few short comings, but in general is quite nice. The mount is sturdy. It doesn't expand as wide as I would hope. With a rubber jacket on my iPhone 3G S it has to be pressed into the holder. At least it's secure. The transmitter can't be turned off. The jack I use is always hot even when the car is off, so I have to unplug the adapter to prevent battery drain. Wish you could turn it off. It does however, remember the station even after unplugging. Very nice. I can plug it in, plug in my phone, hit the preset on my radio and it all just works. Have to turn the radio up a fair bit to get the phone conversation to be loud enough to hear the person on the other end. But it's not terrible. All in all, I'm pretty happy with this. If you don't have a jack to directly plug in your iPhone/iPod, this is a good alternative. I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado and didn't have trouble finding a good frequency with no interference.......
No question, this beats all the others I've tried when it comes to an FM transmitter for iPod or iPhone. Static is virtually non-existent and if the audio quality isn't as true as a CD or an iPod played through a stereo it still is better than Griffin and other similar products I've tried. After reading some of the negative reviews here I was leery, but I'm totally satisfied and thoroughly pleased.......
I think it's a cool product, but for some reason I keep blowing fuses in my car. The neck is pretty good as long as you don't try to mount it sideways then the weight causes it to rotate in the socket and it pretty much falls.......
Just returned from a six day car trip (@ 25 hours of driving). Used the Flex Pod the whole time to listen to podcasts on our iPod Classic 120GB. The Flex Pod worked flawlessly and exactly as advertised. Held the iPod firmly and never moved in the socket. It played beautifully through the car radio with no noise and with excellent fidelity. (We listened to some music, too.) We had to change the frequency a few times when we came within range of a broadcast station on the frequency the Flex Pod was using. The process of changing frequencies was simple and accomplished in a few seconds. It should be noted that we tried plugging in our GPS unit through the USB port on the side of the Flex Pod. That connection makes the GPS respond as if it is hooked to a computer. The GPS cannot be used with that hookup. However, I felt that was no reason to downgrade the Flex Pod. In short, we are extremely pleased with this unit and its performance.......
