Over all I love this dash mount. Its exactly what I was looking for. I however came across a problem with the

Adjustable side clamps. Clamps do not open when my phone is in it. Once I take my phone out and push release button the clamps open very slowly. When I first opened this product I tested the button and the clamps released nice and smooth. But I guess they were poorly manufactured. It did not even last a day. I still use the mount. I just leave the clamps not to tight/loose so that I can lift/drop the phone into the clamps. But I am sure after awhile the foam used to hold the phone in place will wear out doing it this way.

On another note if you have a mount(suction disc)on your dash for Gps this mount will attach to that disk.

I tried other iPhone/iPod mounts with the adjustable, stiff cable and they all shake and move around when driving or pushing buttons. I didn't even bother putting this thing on my dash, mine went straight to the windshield and it works great! Its steady, adjustable, and overall it is solid. My only concern is that is it does require some effort to loosen up the ball joint in order to change the iPhone from Portrait (Vertical) to Landscape (Horizontal) position. All said, this is the best mount for the iPhone or iPod. You can use it with or without the case and it is clearly of high quality with a strong suction cup.

This product works great! suction cup provides a firm hold and so does the holder(i use it with an iphone, but will work with most devices). It adjusts and rotates easily and you can place it anywhere on the windshield so it does not block your sight. It has an optional adhesive pad as well. I highly recommend this product.

I am extremely disappointed in this product. I needed this for a long trip so that I would not have to continuously look down at my iPhone for directions. The Kensington Dash Car Mount would not mount to my dash and absolutely would not hold my iphone while attached to the windshield. It was rather unnerving watching my very expensive iPhone keep falling out of the holder. Whenever the mount had my iPhone in it, it wouldn't stay attached to the windshield. I cannot begin to describe how unhappy I am. I would love to hear from anyone who has a dash mount that would actually hold the iPhone that is NOT a Kensington product.

The only reason I keep buying these is because they're so cheap, but the problem is that I have to keep buying them. With daily use, these break in as little as a month of use. When you push the sides together, it's supposed to lock into place, but eventually the cheap plastic just breaks on the inside and it will randomly start springing back out. It's not worth the effort when your phone can just drop onto the dashboard while you're driving. This goes without mentioning the suction cup everyone is having problems with. I ended up not using it, so I didn't have to deal with it falling off constantly.



Also, you don't receive the item in the first 5 product images. The one you do actually get is the 6th image, which is definitely worse looking and provides significantly less support for your phone.

I bought this to replace a universal model mounted to my air vent. It came with a slim manual (normal these days... at least it was included in print). Really liked that it had an extension piece for the arm and all the parts connected by nice strong ball joints that let me position the iPhone 3GS exactly where I want it and in portrait or landscape mode.



I used the suction cup mount to attach to the windshield with NO PROBLEMS what-so-ever. Didn't have to press hard when dialing down the suction cup and its never came off while driving. Its used in a Ford Escape. The problems others are having could be due to different curvatures in windshields possibly or maybe bad example shipped. Its also possible their windshields aren't clean which could also be an issue. It does come with a sticky padded disc mount should you prefer to mount to a dash instead too.



The cradle for the iPhone holds it nicely. It almost snaps in place and pops out to assure its secure position. Sure it doesn't allow a case to be used but could you imagine making the cradle adapt to so many different cases? Or it would have to rely on a universally adjustable arms to hold it like my previous mount. That's more messing around when putting in and pulliing it out of the cradle and I prefer the quick pop in and out method. It also frees up the top and bottom for power charger connection and headphone jack access. Actually, you can access all the controls easily.



What would make this better? Maybe add a sync connector that employs power and audio out signals that can be hard wired through back of dash. Add a nice slim hardshelled case that comes with adapter that works with case for arm sold seperately (More money Griffin! Wake up your marketing team!). Overall I highly recommend. Great product at a good price.

Out of the box, it works really well. Don't over-tighten it, and you're good. But if you add the optional extension, which is absurdly difficult to install because the joint of the extra extension is really REALLY tight and difficult to pop into place, your chosen iphone/ipod device might cause the arm to wobble on relatively minor divots in roads more than you might like. The solution is to arrange the device in a way that one side rests on a part of the dashboard.

Item attaches to windshield quickly and easily, seems to be quite stable however I just paid for and had installed a Zagg Invisible Shield for the front and back of my iPhone and the way that the Window Seat attaches to the iphone is such that it wrinkles the Invisible Shield to the point that it can not be smoothed out. I ended up removing the back cover and replacing it with an Incipio Feather case. I purchased a different brand of mount with a universal holder. Now the Griffin just sits in a drawer.

The was a sweet holder. I picked one up at Wal-Mart and I was surprised at how well it worked. It come with a plastic disk that I stuck on to the inside of my slide-out cup-holder in my truck - it worked perfectly. Unfortunately someone broke into my truck and stole it (and my sub-woofers). I never used my sub-woofers. I was more upset about my iPhone mount being stolen! I couldn't find another one at Wal-Mart. Thank goodness for Amazon! :)

The best feature is that the suction cup is one of the best I've seen. This is because the amount of vacuum you create is dependent on how much you twist the base.



On the other hand, the angle you can tilt is very minimum. It does come with additional "arm" piece so you can increase the total tilt angle, it also makes it a couple inches taller/longer off the base so it sticks out too much. I would like to see Griffin come out with a gooseneck using the same suction base so it'll give me more flexible bending option.



Finally, the holder is very tight. It does keep iPhone from easily coming loose, but if you have a protector film like InvisibleShield (like I do), then you won't be able to put your iPhone on. I ended up mounting on my desk at home (it's a real office furniture with cherry wood with glassy polish) and I rest my iPhone 3GS on it. Disappointed that I could not use it in my car...oh well. Griffin products have good concept, but their execution falls little short. I bought their holster for my original iPhone, but the clip that is attached to the holder easily broke off. It was one of the best holster style I've seen...too bad they didn't make sure it stood the test of time.



The kit comes with additional holders for original iPhone and 2nd generation iPod Touch. It also comes with a disc so you can affix it to your dash to allow you to mount the unit other than glass surface.

I bought this so I could travel more safely while using my iPhone.



My car does NOT have a center console where I could set my phone while driving, so I would lay the phone on my passenger seat (if no one was sitting in it), or I would ask my passenger to hold it. That got old pretty quickly.



I found this through searching here on Amazon.

I read the product features, I read the user reviews. I bought it.



I LOVE this holder!



I have it positioned on the left side of my windshield, closest to the side rear-view mirror (just above my inspection sticker) attached to the windshield. That way it is close at hand, but NOT in my line of site.



The suction cup keeps it there - without fail! I can even leave it there when I place my full-windshield sunshield into position.



The bottom of the holder has movable "legs" that I can rotate in or out as needed.



The side "arms" open easily, yet hold securely.



I just loop my (2) cords onto the support arm when I am not using the holder - which is almost like a bonus to me, as I had nowhere to store the power cord and/or input cord (I have a cassette player in the car, so I still use the cassette adapter to listen to my iPod thru the car's stereo).



Overall this was WELL worth the money I paid for it. Quite simply, I am a safer more organized driver due to using this holder. Thanks Kensington!

It's hard to imagine an iPhone/iPod car mount designed any better than this. I've had this product for about 3 months, and the suction cup has not failed at all. The arm is long and stiff, so it stays exactly the way your form it. You can remove your iPhone/iPod by pulling up and detaching the unit with the cradle (convenient for when you need to do something on the unit and then put it back right away). When you're getting out of the car, just hit the quick release button on the back and your iPhone/iPod falls right into your hand.

The mount itslef is built well and has good features. The part that attaches to your iPhone is removable frm the rest of the mount. It has good suction to the window. Also it clamps onto your iPhone with sufficiant strength. Also if your iPhone is in a case you will have no problem fitting it in the mount. The bad part is that it does shake a lot. I've solved this problem by putting a S curve in it to shorten it's length and positioned it so the end where my iPhone mounts rests agaist my A pillar. Also it comes with Velcro if you want to mount the phone holder part straight to your dash. If I had to do it over again I probably would go with Kensington's other mount. I forgot to add that you will have no problem plugging in your phone while it's in the mount.

This item is rather inexpensive ($35 or so), but seems to do the job so far. I've had it about 3 weeks, and have not yet received a phone call while the unit was fully connected to my minivan's stereo system, so I can't comment on the phone-thru-stereo quality. I don't know what to expect for $35 in that regard. But it plays music and podcasts alright through the FM radio (with the usual interference, fuzzing in and out as we drive between various sources of radio hash) with basic mp3-to-FM quality (which means don't expect an audiophile experience by any stretch of the imagination). It charges the iPhone, but seems to prefer that the iPhone is attached and cabled-up first, before the engine is started, for charging to really begin. Physically it's sturdy enough, and has withstood the attentions of a child, but I can imagine if I went 4-wheeling it would wiggle around a lot. I don't know who makes the perfect "be-all end-all" iPhone / car attachment, nor do I know what that might cost, but this one works for me for the price.
