Advanced Sound Retriever
This year you can hear the detail, warmth, and clarity the way the artist intended it, from all of the highly compressed MP3, WMA and AAC files playing on your CD player. By restoring data that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, we can make your music sound close to CD quality.

The unit acts like a speakerphone, channeling the sound through your car speakers which makes the call sound better. It also automatically mutes your music so that you'll never miss a call. For bang for the buck this is a great buy. The sound is nice and clean, tons of inputs, and it's very flexible to suit your sound tastes or it's application. I put this in before taking a 7K mile road trip across the Mid-west so I had plenty of time to play with it and mess with it. I laughed at the thought of using the remote when I put this thing in, but soon changed my mind for ease of accessibility with it vs. the face plate. I've spent days worth of time customizing it and tweaking it for different kinds of music and saved under the custom settings. This is very nice to have I must say since regular radio sounds much different compared to digital input media for clarity and range. I put this unit in an older Jaguar convertible paired up with some smaller JBL's. I sure as heck didn't expect it to sound like a concert stage or music hall, but I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the performance of it all together. Better than I expected. I bought this unit after hearing it at the local store. It had a nice clean sound, a front usb slot, an OLED display to be actually readable on sunny days with the top down, and because it's Pioneer quality. I'm definitely satisfied with all these, and all the customization it can do has just made it that much better of a purchase in my book, especially with the price. I'm one that likes to set things and forget about them, so when I hit one of the front buttons and it starts scrolling through the menu, it definitely can get inundating while watching the road. I personally wish the buttons were a bit better designed to easier hit the right ones, but just using the remote has easily overcome this so it's not really a complaint. I gave it 5 stars because I think it's well worth every penny I paid for it, but simplicity is not one of it's strong suits, and that's the only "negative" that I have.

I installed this into my '96 Jeep GC with the stock Infinity amplifier and is sounds spectacular. The screen has a variety of display options for Title/Artist/Album and static and moving options. I thought the static would flash with inverted colors in static mode since this is what it did at first but now it isn't.
The controls on this unit take a little tim getting used to, as everything is burried in the multi-control nob. Things like Pause (usually for momentary use I would assume) are in the nob controls; if you want the music to stop for a minute, you are better off turning the deck off. The ipod controls are excellent with the exception of the scrolling feature. I have a lot of music and if I want to listen to a band or song that starts with R you have to roll the control nob or press the down direction of the control nob over and over. Simply holding the nob in the down position will not rapid scroll. Because of this I have just selected shuffle. I could scroll fast with my ipod instead but since I have a 5th gen, the ipod controls on the ipod screen are not usable and everything must be done throught the deck.
The rear USB is nice if you want to keep a clean looking consule. The USB in front does makes it nice for other people to connect there ipod while I can keep mine hidden away.
The mult- control nob is not as touchy as others seem to complain about. There must be some really rough roads out there.
Overall: typical great Pioneer sound, moderate menu control issues.

Best head unit I've ever owned, hands down. The control knob could be a little larger, but that's my only small complaint in a sea of praises. It's easy to use & works with my iPod perfectly. In the course of doing my research, I found this Pioneer headunit to be THE best value, and I stand by that decision every car ride I take!

You'll never go wrong with Pioneer, they always have excellent product. Been shopping around for a head unit after my stock stereo started to show some problems. Then I saw this head unit in a local electronic store and liked everything on it. I was thinking a USB port and an Ipod connectivity will be a must for me, but this one has 2 usb ports, one on the face and the other at the back. I also like the built-in graphic displays. So I went online and search this unit in amazon and found it at a price lower than the local store. I only had it for a month now and haven't played with some of it's features yet. I had all my mp3's and wma's loaded to a usb drive that I connected to the back usb port using an extended cable and run it inside the glove box. With the remote that comes with it, going through your mp3 list becomes easy. Overall, this is an excellent head unit that I recommend if you are looking for sound quality, graphic display and tons of features.

Radio sounds great. A lot more sound controls than my old panasonic radio. Selecting different songs while on a bumpy dirt road is difficult to do, but other than that difficulty, everything is great!
