"Get what you pay for" 2010-05-03

By Deeter Penright (Dayton, OH)

It works, good value for the price.

Charges the my IPod Touch 2G, plays audio through the FM transmitter without using the headphone jack.

This device seems to be designed for the older Ipod Nano the Ipod touch covers the backlit display and the IR remote sensor. There is a clock that starts at 00:00 every time power is applied to the unit and seems to count how many minutes the device has been powered on. I haven't been able to figure out how to set the clock. It has memory for the radio transmission frequencies you use (requires use of the remote to program and use).

this is cheaply constructed, but you get what you pay for, and it works fairly well for what it cost.

The IPod connector built into the unit works perfectly for charging and playing audio.

Then there is an extra USB charging port and an audio input 3.5mm jack for other devices than the ipod. In order to charge the IPod Touch 2G through the USB port on the unit , I had to take the unit apart and solder the two data pins together. Otherwise the IPod thinks it is a computer USB and will not go into charge state because it is waiting for a data signal.

After soldering the USB data pins, I can use my iGPS360 GPS receiver, which uses a standard USB connector to charge itself and the IPod, and the 3.5mm audio connector to get voice driving directions through the FM transmitter (with the IPod upside down described below).

If I use the headphone jack on the IPod I have to turn the IPod upside down to get it to stay in the mount because there is a lip on the bottom of the unit, needed to hold the bottom of the IPod in the mount, and it blocks the headphone jack of the Ipod. The lip BTW is too narrow in my opinion and the IPod easily slips out of the mount unless the mount is tilted back.

The instruction insert included is useless.

 "works as expecvted but" 2010-04-18

This product arrived on time and works as expected. The plug that connects into the car charge is rigid and is not extendable with a wire So make sure that you have a cgharger outlet where it can fit unobstructively and is also accessible. Mine barely avoids the gear lever when I move it to park

"Good Product for the price" 2010-04-15

By liz (Appleton, WI United States)

I bought this adapter because my teenage son broke the last one (-- as our old one had to be removed every time the car got put into park... too big and bulky by the gear shift.)

So - this had decent reviews and the price was more than right. I figured if we were going to keep breaking them, that investing in a nice one was not a good plan.

Much to my delight - it sounds great (17 year old agrees!~) and it seems like it will be reasonably durable. Most important- it's compact enough that it doesn't need to be removed to park the car! It fits my nano 3rd gen - and also son's new itouch easily.

Glad I didn't buy an expensive one that I am guessing wouldn't be much nicer than this anyway!!!

So, we are definitely pleased with our purchase. I don't expect it to last forever, but it seems like it might have a few years in it? We have been using it for 2 months now and still are not disappointed.

"You get what you pay for" 2009-09-10
By A. Crichlow (USA)
It does the job, you hear your music on your radio. Works great with my ipod. However, the sound isn't the best quality, and at times there is a static noise that is very annoying, but on most occassions it plays very clearly. The other draw back is it fits right into the jack, but if you have anything close to that area it can get in the way and be annoying- so there is little room to manuever it and get it out the way. It is worth the price though.

"Good sound - VERY BAD construction" 2009-09-09
By M. D. Watkins (Nashvegas)
The sound was good, but the ipod kep slipping off the transmitter and the indicator station light stopped working the same day I bought the item. The remote control is useless too. Also, it is NOT a name brand item. It has no name and very cheap construction.

I bought this transmitter to use in my other car. By looking at the way it was shipped I was skeptical. Upon attaching the device, the arms that hold the ipod in place are made of cheap plastic and VERY flimsy, the ipod began to slip out almost imediately. If you live in a metro area, you cannot afford to leave your ipod in the car, so if you are removing the ipod several times per day, you will see that the transmitter will break down.

 "Very Good Transmitter" 2009-08-20
By J. Burnett (Huntsville, AL)
Overall, this is the best FM radio iPod transmitter I have ever used. It has its pros and cons, which I'm about to list, but for those who don't want to read it, my suggestion is to get this product.

Pros:

This transmitter is the best i've ever used. i've been using it for about a month now and haven't had any static! also, the design is great. the cigarette lighter in my car is located in the perfect position for this device, and it's great to finally have an iPod holder that will also charge my iPod while i'm driving. also, (with a simple modification listed below) the side pads hold my ipod very well.

Cons:

This device might be loose in your cigarette lighter, causing it to squeak, wobble, or flip over since it's top heavy. this happened to me, but adding a little padding in the cigarette lighter solved my problem. also, the led display on my transmitter quit working the first day i got it. i've heard that heat will do it, and i do live in alabama, so maybe that's why. i still thought that was pretty bad though. the pads on the sides don't function as well as they should either, and my iPod classic fell out a few times while i was driving. This is because they just push on the ipod from the sides, and don't fully cover it and hold it in. However, this wasn't too big of a deal to fix. I just took a knife and carefully cut out part of the inside padding. this way, the side holders now overlap and go on top of my iPod and hold it in nicely. And last, this transmitter feels a bit cheap, but for the price it's a steal.

I know I've listed a lot more bad things than good, but to me the audio quality i get from this transmitter outweighs the cons. After fixing the side pads to hold my ipod better, i haven't had a single problem with this device, and i don't have to worry anymore about static and changing my radio stations when i drive. (i drove all the way across north alabama and never had to change my station. the reception is great!)

 "Lasted Two Whole Weeks!" 2009-08-06
By S. J. Travis (Denver, CO)
This unit worked great...for two weeks. Also, it could only be used off of the hard wired Aux outlet. Would not work in the ignition Aux outlet. The electrical contact button on the bottom is either too sensitive or the side contacts don't project enough, because the unit continually needed pushed back in the outlet due to popping out. In the end, the display went out and it would not change channels. I just found out that Apple makes a cradle and will try it next.
