While the mic works as advertised, one unexpected side effect is that the internal speaker(s) are disabled by putting in the mic. It cannot be used with Skype or other interactive app. For that you'll need headphones with a mic. But if you want to use the Dragon software or take voice notes, it's a good, cheap solution.

I am using a non jailbroken 3G 64GB Ipod Touch and I can confirm that Skype works. Both the mic and the speaker can work at the same time, I believe Skype is the only application where this is possible. You make calls via speaker phone at all times, there is no option to keep the phone close to your head. This is simply because of the design of the device and the only way you can use voip. The build quality is very good, and there is no reason to purchase a competitor's mic which will cost 300% the price of this one. At less than $5, every single person with an ipod touch immediately needs to get this mic so that they can start making ridiculously cheap voip calls on an ipod of all things.

I read the bad reviews on this product and knew that it had a bad rating; however, against my best instincts, I still bought it. I thought, for the price, it would be a nice stocking stuffer for my husband (and his new iPod Touch).



Not true. Even for the price it is bad. Basically, it doesn't work. I got SO frustrated using it that I just went back to using my finger. You have to push very hard to get the touch to register and by time you hit it on the screen 3-5 times, you might as well have used your finger!



I would not recommend this item. If you want something like this, please spend the money and get a better one. My husband doesn't even use it.

Shortcomings :



The tip is very sticky (like an eraser) so...you only point and click...don't even think of dragging, drawing, or any motion with it. The only motion will be : push it towards the screen



Actually, yes, you do have to push it, push lightly but it gets tiring fast because the body is slippery, so you have to grip it firm when you push. I am looking to find something to wrap around it to add grip.

This is one of the only armbands I can find for this model of ipod and it's a bit of a disappointment. The space for the ipod is too large so the ipod slips around a lot while in use. If you're a heavy sweater/hardcore workout junkie, the compartment collects a lot of condensation from the sweat which then makes it difficult or impossible to use the click wheel. Given that it's the only product I could find, I suppose it serves it's purpose, but the design could certainly be improved to make it more waterproof with a snugger fit for the ipod. The velcro is awesome and it's comfortable to wear otherwise.

I needed a new holder for my iPod nano 3G after using the Apple brand one for a couple of years. I gave this one a try mainly because of the low price. It's slightly more difficult to get the iPod in and to access it with the headphone cable as there's just a narrow slot for insertion and a couple of small holes for access to headphones and the hold button. I've only used it once and it started to get moist under the plastic screen, so it remains to be seen how well it will protect from moisture while I'm running.



My main problem is that the arm strap is too short. I'm 6'2" with 14" biceps. I measured the overall length of the strap and it's only 15". It holds via a Velcro-style flap that you have to loop over, so I have just under an inch of hold if I cinch it tight. The Apple strap is 17" long.



I haven't found the ideal solution yet for jogging with my iPod, but I'll keep trying to use this one if I can.

As anyone who has struggled with the problem of where to stash their I-pod while they are listening to it knows, contraptions like this are essential for playing and forgetting. Before I got this thing, my I-pod was constantly falling out of my shirt pocket. I'd stick in my pants pocket, and then the earphones would get pulled out of my ears because there was too much strain on the cords. So I bought this thing. Great little device, stays on my arm just fine. The only thing I would point out is that the band isn't quite as big as they make it sound. It supposed to fit arms up to 17". I have scrawny girly arms, and it's tight on me. So if you're a body builder with enormous arms, you're probably going to find this a bit too small for you.

I have had this product for about a week, and I really like it. It doesn't just power the iPhone, it actually charges it. After fully charging the IMP500, I have used it to charge my iPhone three times before having to recharge the IMP500. It charges the phone in under two hours. The IMP500 charges in an hour or two as well and holds that charge, at least it did for a couple of days. (I haven't let it sit longer than that without using it.)



I listen to podcasts, music, and talk on the phone all day while I do chores, housework, shopping, etc., using Bluetooth stereo headphones and carrying the iPhone in my pants pocket. The iPhone would run out of battery in three or four hours. When I got this unit, I thought I would have to carry it too, always connected to the phone. It's about the same size as the phone, and I preferred carrying it to running out of power. But this works better than I hoped. Because it actually charges the phone, I only have to carry it long enough to charge. Then I can turn it off and put it to the side for another three hours until the phone runs down again. This means that my phone's power is now virtually unlimited. It's a nice looking unit too, smooth, fits nicely in the hand, but the best thing about it is its performance. I highly recommend it.

I was very excited by this product and following the first charging it charged my iPhone more than 3 times before the IMP500 needed recharging. Now, after only about 5 recharges to the IMP500, I am getting only a little more than 1 iPhone recharge. That's about the same as the other mediocre products that I had tried before. Very disappointing and probably shouldn't happen with a product at this price point.
