I got this item for a long road trip and it performed perfectly until...



I plugged in my GPS and a portable DVD player. It shortly blew. When I say it blew I mean it got hot enough to melt the plastic inside the main male plug as well as the springs inside that hold the fuse was turned into a pool of melted metal. It was completely destroyed. Not to mention the smell of burning plastic lingering in the cabin of the car.



The lesson is that this unit can only handle a maximum load of 2.5 amps TOTAL. Before you buy check and make sure that the devices you are plugging into it do not exceed this rating. For me its the GPS thats the problem in drawing 2.1 amps by itself. I was ok at first because I was using it first with my GPS and the Scosche USB charger accessory which only draws .5 amps.



Overall I was satisfied with this product. I only wish they would have noted its maximum load rating in the product specs.

The item works as advertised. The item I received do not match the picture, which result in me lowering the rating. I did prefer the look of the one showed here, but since it works just the same, I decided to keep it.

Used with a Jeep Grand Cherokee & with a Brunton Solaris 26 solar panel. Fits the socket well, supports the weight of 2 adapters plugged in, & has smooth edges. Doesn't have that cheap "made in China" feel (though it probably is) where seams don't close tight & plastic edges have burrs.



When purchased, it came with a promotional $5 amazon music download code. May buy another one for the other car.

After about 3 months, the AC adapter just stopped working, leaving me in a pinch when it came to charging my ipod (I was traveling). While I can live without my ipod, it was still a hassel. Not sure what caused it, but it was working great beforehand. Perhaps this is not genuine Apple, or perhaps I just got a faulty one, but be aware that this may happen to you as well. While it lasted, however, it was a great small size and I've always liked the utility of Apple AC adapters. If you care about quality, make sure it is genuine Apple (though this is sometimes difficult to ascertain).

I ordered one of these from another store. What I thought I was getting was model MB352LL/B, this listing is for model MA592LL/A, and what I got was MA592ZA/A. It seems to work for the iPod Touch but the box only lists older model iPods. It's fine and works but is bulkier than the newest model MB352LL/B you'll find for $29 in the Apple stores and supposedly there are other power tips allowing both the MA models to work in other countries, so just be sure to check you are getting the correct model when you look at the used and new availability for these adapters which go by the same name.

I purchased this because the USB / AC adapter I purchased elsewhere on Amazon did not in fact charge either my Palm TX or my iPod Touch. You'd think that with a relatively straightforward specification - 5 volts at 500ma - that these things would just work. Yet some don't.



In any case, the Music Power Duet works. It's relatively small, it's inexpensive, it has a folding plug, and it provides two USB power sources for any device that draws power from a USB port.

This thing pretty much covers all the bases as an AC adapter. Especially nice is the inclusion of the USB port, and the reversibility of the polarity to the plugs. But what were they thinking with this collection of plugs? They're attached to a rubber strip which is attached to... NOTHING. All the plugs other than the one you're using WILL get lost, and probably quickly.



There's a baffling little pincer of rubber at the top of the plug strip that doesn't attach to anything securely, including the wire. It's so dumb that it's infuriating. They should have had a slot down the side of the adapter to hold the plugs.

"A. Wilson's" observations of the PowerLine adapter and other brand adapters are correct. Most universal adapters are "unregulated" meaning that the output voltage varies depending upon the load put on the adapter. On these type of adapters, an output may be rated 6V at 500ma, but at a load of only 100ma, it might output 9V or more. PowerLine universal adapters are "regulated" meaning that they output the same rated voltage no matter what load is put on them. This is far superior and safer for the connected electronic equipment.



"Steven Daugherty's" review is also correct regarding damage to another reviewer's digital camera. The most likely cause of the damage is due to improper setting of the polarity. In fact, we have found in 99+% of damage cases that improper polarity setting was the cause. We provide very detailed illustrated instructions with our adapters and also provide a toll free number to call for assistance in configuring the voltage and polarity on the adapters.



The assertions made by reviewer "bruceaa3" are not correct. The voltage measurements he stated are well within the standard 5% manufacturing tolerances on the adapters, and as pointed out above, the PowerLine adapter voltages are "regulated" which is far superior to most other's "unregulated" adapters. This reviewer also stated that the PowerLine adapter put out 2880ma which is much higher than the rated 1300ma and that that was probably what damaged another reviewer's camera. This is not correct at all. Adapters are rated to put out a certain amount of current continuously (in this case 1300ma). However, they actually only put out as much current as the connected device draws from them. They do not "push" current into a device. All adapters are capable of delivering much higher current than their ratings, including ours. However, this has nothing to do with how much current is actually being used by the connected device. The damage caused to the camera was mostly likely due to improperly configuring the polarity of the output connector.

I have had this product for about a week, and I really like it. It doesn't just power the iPhone, it actually charges it. After fully charging the IMP500, I have used it to charge my iPhone three times before having to recharge the IMP500. It charges the phone in under two hours. The IMP500 charges in an hour or two as well and holds that charge, at least it did for a couple of days. (I haven't let it sit longer than that without using it.)



I listen to podcasts, music, and talk on the phone all day while I do chores, housework, shopping, etc., using Bluetooth stereo headphones and carrying the iPhone in my pants pocket. The iPhone would run out of battery in three or four hours. When I got this unit, I thought I would have to carry it too, always connected to the phone. It's about the same size as the phone, and I preferred carrying it to running out of power. But this works better than I hoped. Because it actually charges the phone, I only have to carry it long enough to charge. Then I can turn it off and put it to the side for another three hours until the phone runs down again. This means that my phone's power is now virtually unlimited. It's a nice looking unit too, smooth, fits nicely in the hand, but the best thing about it is its performance. I highly recommend it.

I was very excited by this product and following the first charging it charged my iPhone more than 3 times before the IMP500 needed recharging. Now, after only about 5 recharges to the IMP500, I am getting only a little more than 1 iPhone recharge. That's about the same as the other mediocre products that I had tried before. Very disappointing and probably shouldn't happen with a product at this price point.
